Update on Snocross riders in Sweden.

Here at C&A Pro Skis we welcome opportunities from all parts of the globe to help out snowmobile enthusiasts. Just received this update on how the C&A Pro sponsored riders in Sweden have been doing:

Petter Narsa, reigning champ in the National Pro Open class wich you might have had a glance at during the first two ISOC-races were he took the points lead in the Pro Lite class before he headed back to Sweden to defend his title.

Jeff Oijer, placed 2nd in the National Pro Stock class last year and is really putting in a big effort this year to top the nationals.

Marcus Johansson is a very young and hardcharging rider who has a great future ahead. He took the National title in only his second year since moving up from the junior class.

Marcus Evensson now an older and wiser rider, finishes in the top five in the National Pro Open class almost every competition. He is still looking for that 1st place.

Dennis Jonsson is a young rider signed by Polaris on his way to the top in the pro Stock class.

John Stenberg took two National Pro Stock over-all wins in a row last year and is now riding in the states for Bauerly Racing in the Pro Lite class. He is also taking part in races over in Sweden when he has time off from the ISOC series.

Jonas Stenberg, John’s brother aims very high in the totals of the National Pro Stock series.

Johan Lidman rode his first year in the ISOC Pro Open last year for Sportech Racing and is now in his second season stateside. He will return to Sweden for the World champs and some other races.

Johan Dahlgren, a young factory BRP-rider is very fast but has had some bad luck the past two seasons. He is now hoping to break loose this season so he can remain in the top three where he belongs.

Peter Ericsson, is a rider to really look out for this year. He was retired, but has now returned to racing and is focused on aiming at the top spot. He has several National Titles and World Champ titles in his career so there is no doubt he will be great competition for the  young guns.

Levi LaVallee Signature Skis – Limited time left!

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that our limited edition Levi LaVallee Signature Skis series will be ending on March 31st. This still gives you some time to get your orders in, but don’t hesitate as once they are gone they will never return!

LaVallee and Bodin Injured – Both to Miss Winter X Games 2012

Longville, MN (January 16, 2012) - C&A Pro Sponsored Levi LaVallee and his Team LaVallee freestyle teammate, Daniel Bodin, were injured in separate training incidents during preparation for the Winter X Games 2012 freestyle and best trick snowmobile competition.

LaVallee broke his left tibia and Bodin suffered fractured vertebra but did not sustain any spinal cord damage and has full movement. Both athletes anticipate a full recovery. But due to their injuries, both will unfortunately miss this year’s Winter X Games.

“I’m super bummed about Daniel and I getting hurt,” said LaVallee. “I was riding on a high after my record distance jump on New Year’s Eve and was pumped for Winter X. And Daniel was working hard to defend his gold medals from last year. I love our sport but it can be cruel sometimes. We will both be back as soon as possible and want to thank our sponsors for their support during this time.”

Praying for a speedy recovery for both Levi and Daniel!

ECS racing this weekend in Plattsburgh, NY!

The Second Annual ECS Challenge II is shaping up to be the premier event of 2012 on the northeastern regional snocross scene and is coming up this weekend at the Crete Civic Center in Plattsburgh, NY. With $7,000 purse up for grabs the Challenge has taken on a life of its own. This special high stakes non-points event will create a national event atmosphere at a regional race. This part of New York is full of snowmobile enthusiasts and race fans, thanks to ample snowfall (most years) and great trails.

The 2012 ECS Challenge is made possible by great sponsors like AMSOIL (product), Woody’s (product)  and C&A Pro Skis (1 pair new skis to the winner). In addition, sled makers Arctic Cat, Polaris and Ski-doo have each put up $1,000 to the winner riding their brand. In recent weeks, several race teams from within the ECS pit area jumped in to raise the bar, including the good folks at daSilva Racing, Ingles Performance, Team Southside, Lemieux Racing, Damexco Racing, Ruggiero/Toxic Racing, and Camara Racing. ECS officials are honored to have such tremendous support from within its own ranks.

Great racing in Shakopee over the weekend draws record crowds to MN!

Friday – 1.6.12

Pro Open

Leading the Pro Open class at Canterbury on Friday was C&A Pro Sponsored racer Tim Tremblay, who qualified 14th and charged through the entire field of the world’s top snocross racers to win in front of a giant crowd at Canterbury. “Hat’s off to Tim … he was on a mission,” said 2nd place Pro Open finisher Robbie Malinoski (Ski-Doo).

Through seven laps Martin continued to lead, though a new racer appeared on the radar – Tremblay – who came all the way from the back of the pack, cracking off a main event-best lap time of 30.839, and challenging Mees for 3rd. Obviously the fastest racer in the field on Friday in Canterbury, Tremblay took quick advantage of a Martin/Malinoski get together in a turn and shot out to the lead – a lead he’d never relinquish.

“It was a really tough day. I won the first race, then crashed in the second one and had to go to the LCQ,” said Tremblay. “Tried to stay strong the whole race and ended up winning. Thanks to everyone on my team.”

Rounding out the Pro Open podium on Friday at Canterbury was Malinoski in 2nd and Martin in 3rd.

Pro Light

In the 14-lap Sledhead 24/7 Pro Light final Kamm came from behind and put pressure on early race leader Derek Ellis (Ski-Doo), then took advantage of an Ellis crash and led the race from lap 11 on for the win. “I got out in 5th or 6th at the holeshot, then ended up getting passed again,” said Kamm. “But I was able to pull things together and finish the race strong for the win. Thanks to Polaris and Hentges Racing.” Racer David Joanis blasted his way through the field – all the way up to 2nd place. Rounding out the Pro Light podium was another Ski-Doo racer, Joey Sagan, who raced to a 3rd place finish.

Saturday – 1.7.2012

The largest crowd to ever assemble for a snowmobile race at Canterbury Park Raceway was treated to a thrilling Pro Open main event that had Arctic Cat racer and defending AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series champion Tucker Hibbert top rival Robbie Malinoski (Ski-Doo) in round six of 2011-’12 ACSS.

And in the Pro Light class Polaris’ Kody Kamm made it a clean sweep at Canterbury, adding Saturday night’s top spot on the podium to his win on Friday.

Pro Open

Pulling the Stud Boy Holeshot in the Pro Open was Malinoski, with Ski-Doo racers Darrin Mees (2nd) and Tim Tremblay (3rd) in close behind. By lap nine the three had separated themselves from the rest of the pack – with one addition: Hibbert. Within one lap Hibbert dispatched of both Tremblay and Mees and set his sights on race leader Malinoski.

Three laps later Hibbert had all but erased Malinoski’s four-second lead and put his C&A Pro Skis on his Arctic Cat into Malinoski’s view on a couple corners before finally berzerking his sled into the first turn on lap 16 to take the lead. But rather than checking out, Malinoski hung tough and brought the nearly 12,000 fans in attendance to their feet for the final five laps.

“That was a gnarly race, man,” said Hibbert, who DNF’d on Friday at Canterbury with a mechanical failure. “Once I got by Robbie I thought I’d be able to pull away, but he (Malinoski) stayed right there with me. Great race.”

Added Malinoski: “I just about had Tucker Hibbert … and not a lot of people can say that. Tucker raced me clean and got to 1st place.”

Rounding out the Pro Open podium at Canterbury on Saturday was Ski-Doo racer Tim Tremblay.

Pro Light

In Pro Light action #193 Arctic Cat rider Matt Pichner shot out of a cannon and pulled the Stud Boy Holeshot, followed by Ski-Doo racer David Joanis who got out front early. Followed closely by Kamm and Ski-Doo’s Derek Ellis, the pack separated before Kamm took charge by lap seven, moving five seconds ahead of the next-closest racer.

Moving into the second half of the 14-lap Pro Light main event, chasing Kamm’s Polaris – from 2ndplace through 8th place were seven Ski-Doos in succession. But in the end none of them would have anything for Kamm who walked away with the win by a comfortable margin. Second place would go to Joanis, with the class’ final podium spot going to Travis Mueller.

ISOC Snocross Racing this weekend in Shakopee MN!

Minneapolis – Jan 3rd, 2012 – While unseasonably warm temperatures are blanketing much of country, including the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul area, there’s been just enough chill in the air at night to make a mountain of snow at Shakopee’s Canterbury Park Racetrack and Card Casino – right on time for the Jan. 6-7 running of rounds 5 & 6 of the 2011-‘12 ISOC AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series’ (ACSS).

With six snow making machines blazing ‘round the clock when it’s 32-degrees or colder, ACSS Director of Operations/Race Director Carl Schubitzke assured snocross fans planning on attending the Canterbury event that next weekend’s race will go on as scheduled – with or without help from Mother Nature!

“Snow making has been a difficult task with this warm weather, but we’ve been on top of it – and will continue to be – so that AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series fans will see the world’s best racers competing in Shakopee,” said Schubitzke. “We encourage anybody from Minnesota that is missing snow and snowmobiling to come check out the action this weekend, January 6th and 7th, at Canterbury Park.”

Not only does ACSS racing at Canterbury Park showcase the best pro racers, fans will also get to see the top amateur kids and women racers – many of whom are from Minnesota. Watch two full days of great racing in front of Canterbury’s comfortable indoor stadium seating setting, featuring all of the amenities associated with a professional racing circuit – right in the middle of the Minnesota winter.

Levi LaVallee shatters world record!

San Diego, Calif. (December 31, 2011) – Just after midnight on the East Coast (9 p.m. Pacific) C&A Pro Sponsored Levi LaVallee and Robbie Maddison soared over 300 feet of water, and when they safely landed, both established new world records for distance jumping on a snowmobile and motorcycle!

The snowomobile skis used to set the world record jump can be purchased here: Levi LaVallee Signature Series

LaVallee, a 29-year-old native of Longville, Minn., who was slated to jump in the same event last year before a testing accident derailed his New Year’s plans, redeemed himself in a big way – by breaking his existing certified world record of 361 feet with a leap of 412 feet 6 inches.

Maddison, a 30-year-old Aussie now living in Temecula, Calif., also achieved history by breaking his existing certified world record of 351 feet 3 inches by more than 30 feet, landing 378 feet 9 inches from his take-off ramp.

Soon after the fog blanketing the event site cleared, the two athletes blasted toward the take-off ramps on the North park at Embarcadero Marina Park in the downtown area of San Diego Bay, and launched across the 300-foot water gap, touching down on the massive landing ramp on the South park. A capacity crowd of thousands packed the park and got an early jump on their New Year’s Eve celebrations.

“I’m as excited as I think a person can be,” said LaVallee. “I just landed an over 400-foot jump. I’m not sure how the sled’s doing, but I’m OK, so it was good. It’s an amazing feeling. You have no idea how pumped I am.”

“It’s a cool feeling to do what I do and have the backing I do,” said Maddison. “I was confident we were going to go a long way tonight and we’re going to come back and go even further.”

Freestyle season kicks off with Fuel + Fury Event

This past weekend C&A Pro sponsored rider Levi LaVallee hosted Red Bull Fuel + Fury at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The Fuel + Fury event is a snowmobile freestyle competition where eight of the world’s top riders competed for the podium. The event drew in quite a crowd and a lot of hype, the pressure was on for the riders to put on an awesome show.

Levi LaVallee was the host and commentator, and Team LaVallee’s Daniel Bodin was up tot he challenge of this competition. The event was judged in a double elimination bracket, Bodin was the first rider to go. With solid tricks and huge extensions throughout the night, Bodin pushed his way through his competitors and in the final round he went head-to-head with Heath Frisby to decide first and second place. For the final round, Bodin threw a huge bar-hop backflip (which currently no other snowmobile freestyler has done in competition) and he found his way onto the top of the podium with a top score of 91 out of 100.

Official Snowmobile Ski of ISOC Racing

C&A Pro Skis’ are on as the official ski of the 2011-‘12 ISOC AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series

Minnesota-based industry leader in skis for all models of sleds and rider abilities returns as a longtime sponsor of AMSOIL Snocross beginning at Duluth

Minneapolis – Nov. 16, 2011 – First thing to cross the finish line and grab the checkers in AMSOIL Championship Snocross is the sled’s skis. And chances are good that those are going to be a set of C&A Pro Skis.

Names ranging from Hibbert to Martin, LaVallee and Malinoski all run C&A Pro Skis the “official” ski of the 2011-’12 ACSS.

“Anyone can ride like a pro if you use C&A Pro Skis,” says Mark Mages, C&A Pro Sales/Race Director. “Our skis provide a full range of options from amateur to pro, and from the flat-landers to the mountain riders. The C&A Pro Ski design is the best handling ski on the market as proven by the professional racers, freestyle and hill climb competitors.”

In addition to the racing action, fans of ACSS will see many of the freestyle intermission riders on  C&A Pro Skis. And when the women hit the track, C&A Pro Skis is well-represented by Carly Davis and Samantha Tamowski.

On the ACSS’ manufacturer’s midway – where you can purchase a new set of C&A Pro Skis – two new ‘consumer-friendly’ skis are poised to be a big hit this year with the weekend warriors. The deep powder/maximum flotation MTX (mountain extreme) and the control-friendly, recreation TRX (trail extreme) both compliment C&A Pro Skis’ top racing ski – the XT (extreme).

“We’re pumped to have C &A Pro Skis back on board with AMSOIL Championship Snocross this season,” said ISOC Director of Operations/Racing Director Carl Schubitzke. “C&A Pro Skis are synonymous with excellence – the standard for top level professional snocross, as well as recreational snowmobiling. Again, look for the entire line of C&A Pro Skis product on the AMSOIL Championship Snocross’ manufacturer’s midway beginning November 25th in Duluth.”

What: Round one of the 2011-‘12 ISOC AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series

When: Nov. 25- 27

Times: Practice starts each day at 8 a.m., amateur racing begins at 9:30 a.m., pros at noon.

Opening Snocross weekend!

An awesome start to the 2011-’12 AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series on Friday when C&A Pro sponsored Ross Martin beat the field in the Pro Open class by winning the inaugural AMSOIL DOMINATOR® – a one-on-one, 16-rider bracket racing contest that was a huge hit with the fans at Duluth’s Spirit Mountain.
Martin, the 2nd seed behind  Tucker Hibbert, would meet Robbie Malinoski in the finals after Malinoski upset the favored Hibbert in the semis. Martin pulled the holeshot and led a charging Malinoski throughout most of the race. Martin bobbled a bit down one of the final straight-aways and Malinoski saw his opportunity, only to  wad up on the start line table top jump and hand the win (including a check for $10,000 from AMSOIL) to Martin.
“This is one of those races where anything could happen,” said Martin, hoisting the over-sized check with a lot of zeros above his head while fireworks blazed in the background. “I’m just glad I made it to the line first.”

On Saturday C&A Pro sponsored racer Robbie Malinoski won in front of his Minnesota hometown crowd at the opener of the 2011-’12 ISOC AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series, pulling the holeshot in the premier C.J. Ramstad Memorial Cup Pro Open class and leading from start to finish in the 20th running of the AMSOIL Duluth National at Spirit Mountain.

In Pro Light racing Sweden’s Petter Narsa (C&A Pro Sponsored) was perfect, qualifying first, pulling the holeshot in the main and winning the opening round of the ACSS’ Pro Light class.

C&A Pro Race Director Mark & Levi LaVallee

On Sunday, Ross Martin raced to victory in the Pro Open class at the second round of the AMSOIL Duluth National at Spirit Mountain. TJ Gulla finished in 2nd place and Tucker Hibbert – the three-time defending Duluth National champ – finished in 3rd.

In the Pro Open finals Martin got out of the gate on a rail, pulling the $500 Stud Boy Holeshot and leading 15 of the world’s top pro snowmobile racers through the first turn and into the early lead. In Martin’s wake a massive wreck in the tricky downhill rhythm section collected Justin Broberg (Ski-Doo) and Brett Bender (Polaris), slowing a number of riders caught in the mess – including Hibbert.

When the crossed green and white flags at the finish line signaled the midway point of the race (ten laps to go), Hibbert had passed Lidman and moved into podium position. But his spirited charge at the lead would end up right there as Martin and Gulla rode equally strong, keeping the charging Hibbert at bay through the checkers.

In the Pro Light main event Kamm was able to get up front early in the 12 lap contest, leading Dylan Martin (Ski-Doo), Narsa and John Stenberg (Ski-Doo). Martin would bobble on the uphill section and lose his tether (cutting the motor on his sled), allowing Kamm, Narsa and Stenberg to separate. And while Narsa would make a charge on Kamm, lapped traffic would cause him to leave the track on turn three late in the contest as Kamm put the hammer down for the win.

Also on Sunday …The women pro/am racers took to the track at the AMSOIL Duluth National on Sunday. The podium included: 1st – Jennifer Pare (Polaris); 2nd – Wakenda Peters (Arctic Cat); 3rdKendra Dallmann (Polaris) Finally, the little guys (ages 6-12) on the 120cc sleds ran the same track the pros did, with and Arctic Cat sweep featuring Reid Runkel in 1st, John Langass in 2nd and Evan Christian in 3rd.

East Coast Snocross 2011-2012 is coming!

With ISOC’s National opener at Duluth now in the past, the time is now for the northeast to start their season.

Snowmobile race teams are packing their bags and loading the trailers, as officials at East Coast Snocross (ECS) prepare to kick off their second season of competition on Saturday and Sunday, December 17-18, at Burke Mountain Ski Resort in East Burke, Vermont. (Note the date changes due to warm weather)

Spectator gates will open at 10 a.m. each day, with early qualifying rounds already in progress. Admission is $15 per day for adults, while children age seven and under will be admitted free with a paying adult. Pit passes valid through the entire weekend will be available for an extra $10. Each day will feature the top Pro and amateur riders competing for points and purse, along with two shows by the high-flying Rave-X Outer Limits Sled Freestyle Tour.

New this year is the ECS Rookie of the Year program, awarding a cash purse and prizes to the top first-year rider in our Pro division. Points will be earned towards that honor in every Stock and Open final. Some of the Pro division riders fans can expect to see compete at Burke include St. Johnsbury native and C&A Pro Skis sponsored Lincoln Lemieux, former champion Danny Poirier, factory-supported Minnesota natives Matt Piche (Arctic Cat) and Dylan Martin (Polaris), last year’s rookie sensation Corin Todd (Arctic Cat), along with talented rookies Chris Ackerman (Ski-doo) and teammate Michael George (Ski-doo) all sponsored by C&A Pro.

In the talent-laden Pro Lite division (formerly known as Semi-Pro), fans should keep their eyes on C&A Pro sponsored  athletes like Lucas Brunelle, Jesse James Bonaduce and Andrew Bailey as they battle the competition all weekend long. Add some great racing from the Sport, Women, Junior and 120cc (kids ages 4-10 on a separate small track) divisions, and Burke promises to deliver one excellent weekend full of fun and excitement!

Update: Burke Event Postponed til Dec 17-18

The opening event at Burke Mtn. Vermont has been postponed until December 17 & 18 due to the warm weather conditions. A sufficient amount of  snow is needed to construct a safe and competitive track and enough snow could not be made in time for this weekend’s scheduled event. There will be a Friday practice session scheduled on the 16th.  So, everyone THINK SNOW!!!

Great Racing at the Blackjack National!

BESSEMER, Mich. – (Dec. 10, 2011) – A spectacular finish at the first Blackjack National featured defending ISOC Snocross Series Pro Open champion and C&A Pro Sponsored Tucker Hibbert suffer a mechanical failure on his sled just moments after passing Ross Martin (Polaris/C&A Pro Skis) for the race lead, putting an end to a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase in the Pro Open final. Duluth Pro Open winner Robbie Malinoski (Ski-Doo/C&A Pro Skis) and Tim Tremblay both got by Hibbert and finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, to round out Blackjack’s Pro Open Podium.

In ACSS Pro Lights class racing Canadian David Joanis (Ski-Doo/C&A Pro Skis) took the No. 1 podium spot in the Blackjack National Pro Light finals. Joanis was joined on the podium by Sweden’s Petter Narsa in 2nd place and North Dakota’s Derek Ellis in 3rd place.

Pro Open

Darrin Mees pulled the Stud Boy Holeshot in the Pro Open main, but was quickly passed by Hibbert and Martin on the ski hill’s first uphill section. Hibbert then got pinned between a couple of sleds right before the second turn and dropped back to 5th. Martin then started clicking off some impressive laps in the open air, gaining a good lead over then 2nd place Malinoski. Hibbert, however was far from done. He put on an impressive charge, first passing Tremblay on the uphill section in front of the Blackjack lodge, then catching Malinoski a lap later near the halfway point of the 14-lap race.

Martin was the only racer to triple out of the corner at the base of the big uphill, and continued to put time on the rest of the field – except for Hibbert. Hibbert continued to take multiple seconds off Martin’s once six-second lead to cut it to within a second with four laps remaining. Hibbert would then put his sled up under Martin’s on the top of the first uphill – with the two coming together. In the lead for a moment, Hibbert’s right hand would go up – signaling that he’d suffered a mechanical issue due to the collision with Martin. “I saw him pull over … that’s racing,” said Martin of Hibbert’s pass. “I’ve had my issues as well.” With Hibbert limping around the track both Malinoski and Tremblay were able to get back past him to round out the podium. Hibbert would end up 4th.

Pro Light

After a big wreck on the uphill section to open the Pro Light final was cleaned up, Joanis, Ellis and Narsa rocketed out front of the field of up-and-coming ISOC/ACSS Pro class racers. The two Ski-Doo/C&A Pro Skis racers (Narsa and Ellis) remained in hot pursuit of Joanis, but were unable to get closer than two seconds on the eventual winner.

“I seemed a bit surreal out there,” said Joanis from the podium. “My Ski-Doo got me out first and I just fell into a good pace, stayed steady and smart and didn’t make any stupid mistakes – so that’s why I’m up here I guess.”

Women pro/am racers took to the track at the AMSOIL Duluth National on Sunday. The podium included: 1st – Jennifer Pare (Polaris); 2nd – Stephanie Lemieux Bell (Ski-Doo); 3rd Victoria Hawley (Ski-Doo) … the Sport #1 class podium included: 1st Korbyn Anderson (Ski-Doo); 2nd Kevin Wallenstein (Ski-Doo); 3rd (Ski-Doo) … the Junior 16-17 class included: Ian Buchman (Arctic Cat); Cole Cottew (Polaris); 3rd Tyler Adams (Arctic Cat).

BESSEMER, Mich. – (Dec. 11, 2011) – It was only a matter of time before defending ISOC AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series champion Tucker Hibbert found his way back to the top of the podium. So a bit of poetic justice was served up today at Blackjack Resort in western Upper Michigan when Hibbert pulled a monstrous holeshot and checked out early, leading a field of the world’s best snowmobile racers to the checkers at round four of the ACSS. Joining Hibbert on the podium was Ross Martin and Duluth’s (Minn.) Saturday opener winner Robbie Malinoski in 3rd place.

In ACSS Pro Lite Lite action Wisconsin’s Kody Kamm pulled the holeshot and took advantage of the No. 1 and 2 qualifiers – Petter Narsa and David Joanis  – getting collected in a first turn crash and cruised to a six-second victory over 2nd place Andrew Lieders and 3rd place Travis Muller.

East Coast SnoCross in Burke, VT this weekend!

For the first time in several years, there is no true favorite on the northeastern regional snocross scene.

When it was announced last summer that 2011 ECS Pro champion Mathieu Morin had signed with BOSS Racing for an assault on the ISOC national title, racers across New York and New England let out a sigh of relief, just as they did one year earlier when 2010 champion Bobby LePage headed back west to ride for Levi LaVallee.

Morin’s move back to the national stage swings the door wide open for a new star atop the podium, with a fine mix of talented veterans and fresh faces ready to step into the spotlight.

Last season, Morin claimed 13 of 17 Pro finals en route to the class titles. This season, many feel former champion and C&A Pro Skis sponsored Danny Poirier could regain his spot on top of the podium. With his years of experience, finely-honed skills and race-proven sleds, the famed “Canadian Blast” may set the gold standard in performance this winter.

So who is going to be the rider to beat this year? Time will tell as racing starts tonight and continues into Saturday and Sunday!

Great first round of the East Cast Snocross series!

East Burke, VT – After a week postponement for colder temps to arrive and some snow to race on, snocross returned to the northeast for ECS 2nd season of snocross racing action. Fans saw C&A Pro Skis sponsored Danny Poirier and fellow Canadian Lucas Brunelle score the Pro Stock and Pro-Lite wins after Saturday’s racing was completed at Burke Mtn. Ski Resort. Poirier piloted his Polaris to a clean sweep in qualifying and a flag-to-flag win in Saturday’s Pro Stock final. After a first lap red flag forced a restart, Poirier found an inside line up the course to grab the holeshot and the early lead. Poirier’s 2010-11 teammate Matt Piche, on his Arctic Cat shook off a shot to his leg in the lap one melee and scored the runner-up finish. Dylan Martin piloted his Polaris to the third podium position.

Levi ready for New Year’s record breaking jump attempt.

Santa Monica, Calif.  - Testing is complete. The ramp installation has begun at the event site. The motorcycle and snowmobile are tuned and ready. Robbie Maddison and C&A Pro Skis sponsored Levi LaVallee got to spend time at home with their families and enjoy the holidays. Now it’s back to business and the task at hand – breaking the world record for motorcycle and snowmobile distance jumping at Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. The event will air live from San Diego, Calif., on Saturday, December 31 at approximately 11 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. PT on ESPN, ESPNHD and ESPN3, immediately following the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.

LaVallee, a 29-year-old native of Longville, Minn., will jump his snowmobile alongside Maddison, a 30-year-old Aussie now living in Temecula, Calif., who will pilot his motorcycle as both athletes simultaneously jump over 300 feet of water from the North park to the South park at the Embarcadero Marina Park in the downtown area of San Diego Bay. LaVallee will attempt to break his own record of 361 feet and Maddison will be aiming to eclipse the current record of 391 feet.

“The big one is right around the corner now,” said Maddison. “My bike has been totally dismantled and reassembled, Joe Gibbs Racing rebuilt my engine and all the final parts and adjustments are about done. I’m excited for Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. A new world record is the perfect way to start a new year!”

“I’m thrilled because we finished testing and everything went really well and ended on a positive note,” said LaVallee. “So I’m ready, a bit nervous, but extremely excited for Saturday night.”

USCC races postponed due to lack of snow.

With conditions not adequate for a USCC race in the Grafton/Minto area and not looking to improve prior to the races scheduled for December 31/January 1, USCC has postponed the Grafton 100 and the Minto 100.

Also due to the lack of snow, the January dates of the I-500 events in Thief River Falls, MN,  have been postponed. The new dates are March 2,3,4 .

On a better note C&A Pro Sponsored Levi LaVallee’s episode of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno will re-air on Thursday at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT (10:35 p.m. CT) on NBC.

MTX skis = Superior Flotation

CA Pro Ski MTX skis are unlike anything else on the market. They are the ultimate powder/big mountain sled ski, providing superior flotation in pow, keeping the front end up preventing you from diving and getting stuck. The difference they made side-hilling and carving was like night and day. I will never ride anything else. I love these skis!”

“The C&A Pro MTX ski is a great all round ski! The very best i’d say.”

I recently had the chance to test my new pair of C&A MTX skis on both the trail and in the powder and made a review of them. The skis i’ve tried is the Pilot 5.7, Pilot 6.9 and SLP PP skis. I’ve compared all these with the C&A skis in all kinds of terrains, high speeds and low speeds. The winner of all the skis is by no doubt the C&A’s! They won both the trail and powder challenges.

I’ll start with the powder test. The Pilot’s 5.7 were of course terrible in the powder, you turned the skis but the sled still went straight ahead. The Pilot 6.9 were pretty much the same but at least turned after a while. The SLP skis worked quite well in the powder and turned quite good but didn’t feel very stable when i was turning. The C&A’s turned without any difficulties at all and did not go straight ahead, nice and stable.

The flotation was also very interesting. both the pilot skis were like submarines and wanted to be under the snow.. even the SLP skis didn’t really want to ¨float¨. The C&A’s float on the snow all the time, at low speed, high speed. I could even stop with them without going under the snow surface!

The pilot skis were horrible to even try boondocking with.. they both were very unstable and sometimes difficult to control. The SLP skis are actually very good and easy to boondock with, they have some tendencies to want to toss me of sometimes tho! The C&A’s cut down nice and easy in the snow and were very stable when you finally had your sled on the side. They could sometimes have too good of flotation to get the sled on the side lol!

Now to the trail part, the one i was most exciting to find out about. The Pilot’s 5.7 are horrible even on the trail.. there’s no bite in them at all. The Pilot 6.9′s had at least a bit more bite than the 5.7′s and had a lot better steering effort at higher speeds than at lower speeds. The SLPs are almost even worse than the 5.7′s at the trail.. the SLP skis goes back and forth across the whole trail and can’t decide wich track they want to go in, at least at lower speeds. They handle a bit better at high speeds, but sometimes they become alive and choose to go somewhere else.

The C&A’s really surprise me on the trail! They were amazing! They were completly self depending and went straight all the time without being affected by the other ski tracks. Easy to steer with and went were you wanted without causing any trouble. They worked just as great in low speeds and in high speeds. At high speed they became a little heavier to steer with but that’s regular and exactly the way they should be.

Conclusion: The C&A MTX ski is a great all around ski! The very best i’d say. If i would buy a new pair of skis i wouldn’t even hesitate to buy another pair! They were great on every task and didn’t disappoint me for a second, they were alot better than i even expected them to be. I’ve never had this fun on the trails before.
